These habits will always give your week a great start and help you dread less on Monday morning.
We all dread Mondays, don’t we? Here’s what we can do to make our Mondays a bit easier. Adopt a few weekend habits for a productive week ahead.
Weekends are a time to relax and unwind after a long week of putting in work. Yes, they should remain that, but this doesn’t mean we can’t adopt a few practices that help us prepare for the upcoming week, making us more productive and stress-free.
1. Eat Healthy
Yes, weekends are the time to feast on the things you love, but you should try and avoid continuing your feast until Sunday. Having a few indulgent meals on Friday and Saturday is completely fine, but your Sunday meals shouldn’t leave you in a food coma, making it impossible to get up out of bed when it is Monday and time to work.
Also, try and skip that cocktail or beer on Sunday night too. Alcohol dehydrates you and will make your Monday even more groggy and slow. Make sure to eat and drink healthily on your Sundays, so you are ready to take on the week ahead of you.
2. Disconnect Completely
Disconnect completely from your work. If you are still answering calls, emails, and texts about work on your weekends, are you really off work? If you cannot disconnect completely, you should at least only check up on work in scheduled time slots throughout your weekend.
Don’t let work control or take over your weekends too. You will come back brighter and more refreshed if you learn how to disconnect from work completely.
3. Pursue Your Passion
Discovering your passions and indulging in them is the best way to spend your weekends. When you pursue something you are passionate about, you come back completely refreshed and relieved from stress.
It can be something as simple as reading, or you could start learning how to play a musical instrument; anything that stimulates your mind will hugely impact your productivity over the coming week.
4. Sleep Well
It can get hard to get the recommended eight-hour sleep during the week, especially in demanding and stressful jobs. If you think you don’t get enough sleep during the week, you should try to sleep a little longer on the weekends.
5. Spend Time With Loved Ones
Spending quality time with loved family and friends is the best way to relax, recharge, and get ready to be productive for the week ahead. Our work seriously affects the amount of quality time we spend with our loved ones, and the weekends should be spent doing what you love with the people you love.
Spend time with your spouse, play with the kids if you have any, go out to the movies with your close friends, and maybe visit your parents. All of this will allow you to unwind and relax.
6. Get Ready For The Upcoming Week
Take a few minutes or an hour out of your weekend and plan your week. Get organized and maybe plan a schedule for what the upcoming week holds for you. If you are prepared, even a little bit, the week ahead will be that much more relaxed, and you will be able to focus on your productivity.
